Cabochon Stones Explained

Lapis Lazuli - a deep blue opaque stone with iron pyrite inclusions, giving the appearance of a starry nighttime sky.

Garnet - a dark red translucent stone, like a glass of red wine.

Amethyst - a medium purple translucent stone.

Carnelian - an orange-red semi-translucent stone.

Rhodochrosite - a layered pink and white stone, think strawberry parfait. Varies widely.

Onyx - a black opaque stone.

Blue Goldstone - deepest blue stone with gold glitter effect. This stone is man-made.

Malachite - bright-to-deep green banded stone, varies widely.
